Thermal Comfort Conditions and Energy Efficiency of Buildings ab 59 EURO Thermal Adaptation Building Code Variable Thermostat of air conditioner
The project basically deals with the feasibility of solar air-conditioning system and it s designing which uses lithium bromide and water as absorbent and refrigerant respectively, Heat and mass balance have been conducted on each component including solar collectors in order to attain desired values. The system basically runs on absorption refrigeration cycle having four main components generator, condenser evaporator and absorber the details of the cycle and how it works are presented comprehensively with complete formulation of the designing of each and every component except the auxiliaries which includes solution pumps, storage tank and expansion valves they have directly been taken from the manufacturers since their designing was out of the scope of our project.
Air conditioning is the cooling and dehumidification of indoor air for thermal comfort. In a broader sense, the term can refer to any form of cooling, heating, ventilation, or disinfection that modifies the condition of air. An air conditioner (often referred to as AC or air con.) is an appliance, system, or mechanism designed to stabilise the air temperature and humidity within an area (used for cooling as well as heating depending on the air properties at a given time), typically using a refrigeration cycle but sometimes using evaporation, commonly for comfort cooling in buildings and motor vehicles. The concept of air conditioning is known to have been applied in Ancient Rome, where aqueduct water was circulated through the walls of certain houses to cool them. Similar techniques in medieval Persia involved the use of cisterns and wind towers to cool buildings during the hot season. Modern air conditioning emerged from advances in chemistry during the 19th century, and the first large-scale electrical air conditioning was invented and used in 1902 by Willis Haviland Carrier.
The book covers brief introduction and concepts about the conventional air conditioning and evaporative cooling technologies. It presents the thermodynamic performance and relevant characteristics of direct evaporative cooling system to gain knowledge about the effects of inlet velocity of air, outdoor air temperature, cooling pad thickness and their configurations. It also explains about a developed thermodynamic model by using Logarithmic Mean Temperature Difference (LMTD) approach to predict the performance of the cooling pads. The nano-refrigerant is used in the Vapor Compression Refrigeration System (VCRS), and also in evaporative cooling combined with VCRS, then both the systems are compared. This book also helps in improving the feasibility and applicability of the developed system by decreasing the size of "evaporative cooling combined with vapour compression based air conditioning system". In this book, conventional air conditioner coupled with honeycomb cooling pads for providing better thermal comfort at a minimum operating cost in hot & dry weather is theoretically investigated.
